The AD5933 is a high precision impedance converter solution which combines an on-board frequency generator with a 12-bit, 1 MSPS, analog-to-digital converter (ADC). Its design overcomes much of the challenges mentioned in the previous slides and combines both excitation and response signal processing in a single package. A DDS is used to generate a predefined frequency sweep to a tuning resolution of 0.1Hz and up to a maximum frequency of 100KHz. Along with the four possible peak-to-peak voltages, a number of amplitude settings can be selected.
