Here is a look inside the TEA1721. This block diagram gives a high level overview of the functionality and features of the product. The start-up current source at the top provides the right current at start-up of the chip and the start/stop block is responsible to take over when the voltage on the VCC pin has reached the right level. Clearly shown is the integrated power MOSFET and the corresponding GATE driver controlled from the control logic block. A lot of internal circuitry is needed for voltage and current sensing, and to provide the high level of protections.
