The TEA172x product family is also considered a successor of the STARplug product series. This slides gives a brief comparison of the main features and shows the benefits of the TEA172x. The TEA172x series has an internal MOSFET with a higher breakdown voltage of 700 V, which reduces the losses and makes the product even more robust. Both the no-load power consumption and the efficiency have improved significantly. Moreover, the TEA172x enables further reduction of the PCB footprint because of the smaller package and the smaller number of external components needed.
