Renesas ZMID520x Inductive Position Sensors | DigiKey Daily

Renesas offers their family of ZMID520x inductive position sensors. Three versions with different output interfaces are available: the ZMID5201 has an analog output interface; the ZMID5202 uses a PWM digital output; and the ZMID5203 uses a SENT, or single edge nibble transmission, digital output. This series of position sensors uses the physical principles of induction in a wire loop and eddy currents to detect the position of an electrically conducting target that is sliding or rotating above a set of coils consisting of one transmitter coil and two receiver coils. All IC variants require only three connecting wires. These cost-effective and no magnet required ICs are ideal for absolute rotary or linear motion sensing in automotive, industrial, medical, and consumer applications.
