TE Connectivity (TE) soft shell power and signal interconnects provide a reliable and economical means of grouping multiple-lead connections in today's appliance, computer, or industrial and commercial applications. As electrical functions and performance requirements have increased, the soft shell product selection continues to evolve and offer new designs and features to answer these modern industry requirements. This family of connectors includes both round (pin and socket) and rectangular (blade and receptacle) contact styles that are available in a variety of housing sizes, colors, materials and keying options. In addition to the popular Universal MATE-N-LOK, Mini Universal MATE-N-LOK, Micro MATE-N-LOK, Signal Double Lock(SDL) and Power Double Lock connectors(PDL); the newest TE soft shell products include the Power Triple Lock(PTL) connectors and Grace Inertia connectors and the expanded offerings of economy power (EP) connectors and VAL-U-LOK connectors.
Universal MATE-N-LOK connectors utilize a combination of pins and sockets intermixed in the plug and cap housings to achieve excellent electrical performance in a .250 [6.35] pitch design. Rated to 600VAC/VDC and 19A, these offer wire-to-wire, wire-to-panel, and wire-to-board configurations. Housings feature positive polarization, positive locking, and rear cavity identification for easy, error resistant assembly. Contacts are enclosed in the housings, have low mating force, and are removable for system flexibility.

TE's new Power Triple Lock connector solution directly responds to the appliance industry’s desire for increased reliability and functionality, security and ease of use. One aspect of the Power Triple Lock connector’s versatility comes from the number of product offerings. The line includes many position sizes for plugs and caps in free hanging as well as panel mount configurations. The very broad Power Triple Lock connector product line’s single, double and matrix position configurations with pin 1 indication have four keying and color options to enable visual verification during assembly. The Micro MATE-N-LOK 3 mm Connector System is a wire-to-wire and wire-toboard connector system with contacts on a 3 mm [.118] centerline. Both single-row and dual-row configurations are available. Crimp, snap-in pin and receptacle contacts are used to terminate 24-20 [0.2-0.6] and 30-26 [0.05- 0.15] AWG wire. Plug and receptacle housings allow wire-to-wire and wire-topanel configurations. Header assemblies for wireto-board interconnections include vertical and rightangle components. These IR reflow process compatible headers are available in through-hole and surface mount configurations. Typical uses of the Micro MATE-N-LOK 3 mm Connector System include the appliance, instrumentation, industrial machinery, home equipment, and security system industries.

Advanced Economy Power (EP) II and EP 2.5 connectors offer more benefits than the proven EP design on which they are based. EP II connectors have a .156" [3.96mm] pitch and are rated 600VAC at up to 11A, offering potential for a larger range of applications along with 22-18 AWG [.321-.963 mm²] wire size. With up to 12-positions the EP II connector is well-suited for delivering power to the board. The compact EP 2.5 family is based on a .098" [2.5mm] pitch and is rated for 250VAC at up to an industry-leading 4.5A. With a 26 to 20 AWG [.121-.601 mm²] wire size, and up to 20-positions, EP 2.5 is suited for board power delivery when space is at a premium. Both EP II and EP 2.5 connectors offer two levels of mechanical and electrical reliability: A true locking latch prevents the plug housing and post header from vibrating apart, while an optional Terminal Position Assurance (TPA) device helps assure terminal seating.

The Mini-Universal MATE-N-LOK connector system offers wire-to-wire and wire-to-board connections with contacts on a 4.14 mm [.163] centerline and current ratings up to 9.5 amps max. per line. Plug and receptacle housings allow wire-to-wire and wire-to-panel configurations and header assemblies offer wire-to-board connections in vertical and right angle configurations. Wire-to-wire, free-hanging, or panel mount options are available in 1-15 position in-line, dual row, or matrix configurations and wire-to-board systems in dual row and matrix configurations are available in 2-24 positions. Hermaphroditic housings are also available in 2-4 positions for free-hanging applications. Crimp, snap-in pin, and receptacle contacts are used to terminate 30-16 [0.05-1.2 mm2] AWG wire with insulation diameters up to 3.20 mm.
The Mini-Universal MATE-N-LOK connector system also offers a splash-proof design allowing for use in areas where high humidity, intermittent liquid splashing, or foam-in applications require a sealed connector for improved electrical performance. Power Double Lock Connectors are compact connectors designed for use in power circuit applications and are ideally suited for wiring in refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, gas equipment, copying machines and automatic vending machines. These connectors can be used alone by inserting wire-terminated crimp snap-in contacts into the housing. However, to achieve more positive contact mounting, plug and cap housings can be equipped with a double lock plate that helps to completely insert contacts. There are three contact centerline spacing’s available: 3.96 mm, 6.5 mm and 7.92 mm. Of these, the 7.92 mm centerline contact arrangement is for 2-position board-mounted headers. The mating wire mounted plug connector uses the second circuit of the 3-position 3.96 mm centerline housing with no contact loaded. Available with the 3.96 mm centerline contact arrangement are wire-mounted plug housings and the mating wire-mounted cap housings (for free hanging and panel mounted applications) and board mounted tab headers. The 6.5 mm centerline contact arrangement is used in wire-mounted plug housings and the mating board mounted tab headers. The plug housings are loaded with receptacle contacts and the cap housings with tab contacts. The tab headers for board mounting are preloaded with solder-dipping tab contacts with tail. Contacts accept two wire size ranges: 28-22 AWG (with insulation outer diameter of 1.3 to 2.0 mm) and 20-18 AWG (with insulation outer diameter of 2.0 to 3.1 mm). The tab header for board mounting has a locking mechanism where it is compatible with resin coating that is applied to the board for waterproof. It is designed to work with the plug locking function. The solder tail section of tab contact has kink feature. Interacting with the mounting boss with kink feature, the solder tab secures the header on the board firmly during soldering. The double lock plate is compatible with high-count positions of more than 3 rows. Also, the housing lance design of this connector, featuring no lance on contacts, makes handling of the connector very easy, as there is minimal entanglement of contacts with one another.back to top
TE Connectivity's VAL-U-LOK connector system offers wire-to-wire and wire-to-board connections with contacts on a 4.20 mm (.165 in) centerline and current ratings up to 9 A maximum per line. Plug and receptacle housings allow wire-to-wire and wire-to-panel configurations, and header assemblies offer wire-to-board connections in vertical- and right-angle configurations. VAL-U-LOK connector system configurations are available in 2 to 24 position dual-row, and 3 to 5 position single-row. Vertical headers are available with or without polarization pegs, with or without drain holes, and offering a blind mate version. The right-angle-headers are available with or without screw mount flanges. Crimp, snap-in pin, and socket contacts are used to terminate 26-16 (0.12 to 1.2 mm²) AWG wire with insulation diameters up to 3.10 mm (0.122 in).back to top
The Grace Inertia Connector series from TE Connectivity AMP employs an inertia locking mechanism to simultaneously complete the circuit and “lock” the connector for ideal mating reliability and prevention of mismatching. These small wire-to-wire connectors can be used in a wide range of large electrical products from home appliances to vending machines, and are a great solution to eliminate human error during assembly.
