VISATON's miniature speakers are designed for a variety of space-constrained applications

Image of VISATON's Miniature SpeakersVISATON miniature speakers can be used wherever acoustic signals are to be reproduced, but there is very little space available. Depending on the design, size, and materials used, miniature speakers can also be suitable for playing back speech or music. Many miniature speakers have no tabs for screw mounting; they are glued in place or installed using springs or clamps. The electrical connection is usually made by soldering. For this purpose, soldering areas or eyelets are provided on the back. Some models are already equipped with cables and plugs; others have contact springs that are pressed onto a contact plate.

When choosing the miniature speakers for an application, users must pay attention not only to the dimensions but also to the acoustic parameters. The mean sound pressure level, the frequency range, and the rated power handling are particularly important. Different designs are required depending on whether a single signal tone with a high level of speech or music is to be played. A particularly flat loudspeaker with a small voice coil and a small magnet is usually only suitable for signal reproduction. If speech and music are to be reproduced, larger magnets and other membrane materials are required.

Other important criteria when choosing are the operating temperature ranges and water resistance. The exact operating temperatures of the device in which the loudspeaker is to be installed should be checked. The same applies to the resistance to foreign bodies and water (IP class). In the case of Visaton, the IP class specified in its datasheets applies to the front of the loudspeaker when installed in a sealed housing. Additional gluing of the speaker may be necessary for sealing.
