High amperage (46 A to 50 A) isolated contacts support high-power server, telecommunication, and industrial equipment requirements. These cable assemblies are equipped with a terminal position assurance (TPA) retainer to prevent terminal back-out. The dual-beam (female) terminal design gives four points of contact and ensures superb contact reliability.

Strong economic, ethical, and environmental considerations are driving electronic industries to replace gold (Au) with alternative plating materials on connectors. Although noble metals such as palladium (Pd), iridium (Ir), and platinum (Pt) provide good corrosion-resistance, these are not practical for use due to availability and cost reasons. Silver (Ag), a noble metal with corrosion resistance qualities as well as sound conductive and mechanical properties, is accepted by industry standards as a viable plating alternative to gold that costs less

Applications which use tin (Sn) as the plating metal face possible corrosion issues, and customers using gold as a plating alternative may find that solution too cost-prohibitive. Molex’s silver plating not only addresses the cost issues associated with gold but also eliminates worrisome corrosion issues common with tin-plated systems. Molex’s offering of silver-plated parts provides maximum investment protection to customer applications in both the short and long term.
