KEMET offers X and Y Polypropylene and Paper Film Capacitors for low frequency applications.![]() KEMET's class X and class Y metallized polypropylene film and paper capacitors have temperature ratings ranging from 105ºC up to 125ºC. Capacitance values range from 0.001 – 10.0 μF with a voltage range from 300 VAC to 760 VAC dependent upon class. These capacitors have excellent self-healing capabilities to match Safety Agency requirements. KEMET’s polypropylene film portfolio offers components for Harsh Environmental Conditions with a capacitance value range of 0.1 μF - 10 μF, a rated voltage of 310 VAC, and very good capacitance and dissipation factor stability. KEMET’s offerings also include automotive grade X1, X2 and Y2 capacitors. Features:
Benefits:
F862 & F863 - Metallized Polypropylene Film for Harsh Environmental Conditions, Class X2, 310 VAC![]() These series are specifically designed for safety applications subject to factors such as high humidity. Suitable for across-the-line EMI filtering and connection in series with the mains for high stability grade applications in severe ambient conditions. These series are comprised of improvements made to maintain stability in such environments. KEMET recognized the challenges and researched materials that would produce more robust parts for extreme applications. As a result, improvements to all of the major capacitor components have been implemented, including the metallization layer, the film used as the dielectric, the resin which fills the package, and the box (or casing). With these changes, the F862 and F863 series offer very high capacitance stability while meeting international safety agency approvals. Features
X Class Safety Capacitors - Polyproplene and Metallized Paper Dielectrics![]() Also known as EMI suppression capacitors, these capacitors reduce the amount of electro magnetic interference (EMI) generated in equipment and directed to the mains. They protect against surges. Polypropylene has excellent self-healing capabilities and high voltage withstand per given thickness therefore making it a good selection for AC line EMI capacitors. Small sizes can also be achieved. Paper dielectrics also has very good self-healing capabilities and great capacitance stability due to resin impregnation. Their reliability is outstanding in mains connected and other low frequency applications. Paper has the highest possible safety regarding active and passive flammability.KEMET's X class capacitors are available for all industrial voltages, eliminating the need for two lower voltage capacitors in series. KEMET's X class capacitors are available for all industrial voltages. Features
Y Class Safety Capacitors - Polyproplene and Metallized Paper Dielectrics![]() Also known as EMI suppression capacitors, these capacitors reduce the amount of electro magnetic interference (EMI) generated in equipment. They protect against surges and can be used for AC filtering. Paper has the highest possible safety regarding active and passive flammability. KEMET's Y class paper capacitors are used for bridging of double or reinforced insulation applications requiring voltage test up to 4,000VAC at 60 seconds. The capacitors can be left in place during this test. Y2 capacitors exhibit no bend-over when subject to IEC push test. No external insulation is required. The failure mode tends toward open circuit. Features
Automotive Grade X & Y Class Capacitors![]() These capacitors meet the demanding Automotive Electronics Council's AEC-Q200 qualification requirements. Automotive grade is offered in up to a 22.5 mm lead space in the R47 and R41 series. All lead spaces of the F862 and F863 series are automotive grade. Typical applications include charging stations for electric vehicles, onboard battery chargers, electric motors as well as safety and drive convenience types of applications. Features
