Dolo SMT Antenna for 2.45 GHz Applications

Antenova's Dolo SMT antenna in the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth® technology category is ideal for all 2.4 GHz applications. Dolo offers a high efficiency of 76%, which enables and improves data connectivity over longer ranges than a simple trace design on the host PCB.

Developed for long range on a PCB as small as 70 mm x 40 mm, Dolo utilizes a ground plane to radiate efficiently in 2.4 GHz applications such as Bluetooth/BLE, Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n), and Zigbee®. A larger ground plane is not suitable for many wearable applications. This surface mount component weighs 0.1 grams, measures 7.5 mm x 4.0 mm x 0.9 mm, and requires a small clearance area of 7.5 mm x 6 mm. This surface mount antenna has an operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C. The radio frequency peak gain is 3.8 dBi with an average gain of -1.2 dB. Maximum return loss is -10.6 dB, and maximum VSWR is 1.8:1.

Dolo offers three placement options – center, right, and left. Optimal performance is in center or left-hand side placement. The required minimum clearance area around the antenna is critical to the performance and must be applied through all four layers of the PCB. The compact size and clearance area are ideal for wearables such as fitness/wellness trackers, medical devices, wireless sensor networks, Internet of Things (IoT), and smart cities/smart grid applications.
