Silicon Labs' F85x/6x are analog-intensive, yet highly cost-effective, 8-bit MCUs which include a 12-bit multi-channel analog-to-digital converter, two analog comparators with programmable hysteresis, and a precise internal-voltage reference. These on-chip analog features enable developers to minimize external components, resulting in significantly-reduced solution cost as compared to competitive MCUs.

High level of integration in a tiny package

The F85x/6x family takes functional density to the next level by integrating advanced analog and digital features into a highly cost-effective 20-QFN (3 mm x 3 mm), 24-QSOP, and 16-SOIC packages. The F85x/6x MCU architecture features a patented crossbar that enables developers to choose peripherals and pinout placement based on their application needs and layout constraints without worrying about the pre-set limitations and pin conflicts. This allows usage of small pinout packages, simplifying PCB routing, minimizing PCB layers, ultimately reducing design time, lowering system cost, and optimal usage of pins.

High-performance 8051 MCU with motor control PWM

The high-performance, yet cost-effective, 8051 microcontroller architecture executes most instructions within 1 or 2 clock cycles and delivers 20 to 25 times the performance of the original 8051 core. High-performance is often critical in a number of applications such as optical transceiver modules and motor control applications (fans, dryers, vacuum cleaners, model toys, and more). In addition to the high-speed and high-performance 8051 core, the F85x/6x family also supports three independent high-resolution PWM channels with built-in hardware kill/safe-state capability, specifically targeting motor control and power supply applications. Also, customers can re-use their legacy 8051-compliant code, further reducing development time and cost.
