Digi-Key Opens European Customer Support Center in Munich, Appoints Regional Sales Director

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minnesota, USA - March 13, 2013

Global electronic components distributor Digi-Key Corporation, the industry leader in electronic component selection, availability and delivery, today announced its expanded presence into Central Europe with the opening of a European Customer Support Center in Munich and the appointment of Hermann Reiter, Regional Sales Director for Central Europe. Digi-Key also announced today that it has further expanded its global footprint with the appointment of three additional EMEA regional sales directors, covering the UK, Ireland, Israel, and Russia.

"Our expanded European presence will support Digi-Key's traditional customer base, as well as an increasing number of business buyers requiring higher-volume production orders," said Kris Haggstrom, vice president of strategic customer development, EMEA and Asia Pacific, at Digi-Key. "We are pleased to announce the appointment of senior-level sales directors like Hermann Reiter who will play a key role in Digi-Key's global growth."

New European Customer Support Center – Munich

Digi-Key's new EMEA sales and service team will be based in a new Munich office. Today, the team includes one application engineer and six sales and service professionals, representing four different languages and several years of electronic component industry experience. The team will initially support customers in Central Europe.

"Because of our recognized brand and commitment to service, Digi-Key has been able to recruit some of the top electronic components experts in this region," said Hermann Reiter, sales director, Central Europe, Digi-Key. "Every team member brings a wealth of experience to the table, with a common goal of helping our business and our customers succeed."

Hermann Reiter – Sales Director, Central Europe

Bringing over 25 years of industry experience, Hermann Reiter joined Digi-Key in 2012 with a keen focus on expanding Digi-Key's presence in Central Europe. Since joining the company, Reiter has contributed to growing the regional customer base and in facilitating the development of the EMEA sales and support office in Munich.

Today, Reiter and his team offer local service for Digi-Key's expanding customer base, which ranges from a single order from an engineering enthusiast to more complex Production Business accounts. The dedicated local team will focus on increasing awareness of Digi-Key's "Prototype to Production®" business strategy, supporting the company's unique high-mix/low volume, hybrid distribution model.

Reiter's experience in the electronics component industry is focused on economics and logistics. He has worked with reputable companies such as Arrow Electronics and Future Electronics, serving in a variety of sales leadership roles. Reiter's previous initiatives have included fostering growth of semiconductor, passive, electromechanical and connector products and services within the EMEA region.

"Telling the Digi-Key story will be paramount in our efforts," Reiter said. "Having a local presence in the region to expound upon the merits of our unique Prototype to Production business model will facilitate growth within our already broad customer base, and help achieve success similar to that which Digi-Key has enjoyed over the past 40 years in North America."
