Digi-Key Sales Internship Program Now Accepting Applications for 2012-2013 Academic Year at NCTC

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minnesota, USA - February 29, 2012

Digi-Key program offers local NCTC students job opportunities, tuition reimbursement

Electronic components distributor Digi-Key Corporation, recognized by design engineers as having the industry's largest selection of electronic components available for immediate shipment, today announced it will once again sponsor the Digi-Key Corporation Sales Internship Program in partnership with Northland Community and Technical College (NCTC).

This internship program offers college students age 18 and older the opportunity to work at Digi-Key while attending classes, as well as the opportunity to receive reimbursement of up to 50 percent (per academic year) of the students' covered educational expenses. Internship program classes start at the beginning of the 2012-2013 academic year for full-time students who are enrolled at NCTC in Thief River Falls. However, participants in the Digi-Key Sales Internship Program will begin working at Digi-Key in June 2012.

Participants who successfully complete their degrees and the requirements of the internship program will then be eligible for full time sales positions at Digi-Key. These positions will provide participants with competitive rates of pay and Digi-Key's comprehensive benefits program.

To be considered eligible for the Digi-Key Sales Internship Program, applicants must be 18 years of age or older and enrolled as incoming students for the 2012 fall semester at NCTC in an associate-level business or other Digi-Key-approved degree program at NCTC. Applicants must also succeed in the Digi-Key sales internship application/interview process.

Upon acceptance into the Sales Internship Program, participants will receive eight weeks of inbound sales training at Digi-Key from June through August 2012, until the beginning of the academic year. While enrolled in the internship program, participants must maintain a 2.5 grade-point-average (GPA) per semester to be eligible for tuition reimbursement. Participants must also agree to work part-time at Digi-Key while enrolled in the program, maintain satisfactory performance and follow all applicable company policies. Generally, from September 2012 through May 2013, participants will work in a sales capacity approximately 20 hours per week while attending NCTC classes.

"We are pleased to offer the Sales Internship Program again this year, which is a 'win-win' situation for Digi-Key and NCTC students," said Rick Trontvet, Digi-Key's vice president of human resources. "In the program, students receive what equates to more than $3,000 in annual educational assistance and a professional employment experience, while at the same time helping Digi-Key meet sales staffing needs."

Applications for the Digi-Key Sales Internship Program must be received or postmarked by Friday, April 13, 2012.
